Dedicated to serving and preserving Gujarati culture and uniting families across Greater Detroit.
The Gujarati Samaj of Detroit (GSOD) was founded over fifty years ago by a handful of visionary Gujarati immigrants who wished to create a home away from home. What began as informal community gatherings has grown into one of Michigan's largest cultural non-profit organizations, serving over 2,500 families.
Our mission is to pass on the rich heritage of Gujarat, its beautiful languages, its traditional arts, literature, dance, and values to the next generation. We organize several cultural festivals including Navratri Garba nights, Diwali Galas, Holi color events, summer picnics, drama plays, and community service projects.
Whether you are new to Detroit or have lived here for decades, GSOD welcomes you. We provide multiple benefits for registered members, including priority ticket purchases, heavy discounts, and active programs for children, youth (GSY), and seniors.
Our executive board of directors working tirelessly to serve the community.
